Millimeter wave communication devices will be widely deployed in indoor (WiFi) and outdoor (cellular network). Based the characteristic of millimeter wave, millimeter wave communication devices can be exploited to enable new applications, such as trajectory detection, velocity detection, gesture detection and so on.
Highly directional mmWave communication leads to synergies between localization and communication. However, research on localization schemes for mmWave communication, particularly, fast and accurate localization, is still an open problem. We are pursuing fast and accurate localization solution for mmWave communication systems through novel antenna design and algorithm design.
