Inter-network interconnection and integration are the necessities to popularize Internet of Things (IoT). However, research about other heterogeneous networks cannot be applied in integrating heterogeneous IoT networks, due to the significant difference between IoT networks and other types of networks. An IoT network integration scheme is proposed in this project. Typical IoT heterogeneous network types are extracted according to IoT’s essential characteristics. Wireless Mesh networks and reconfigurable communication system are combined based on the analysis of IoT heterogeneous networks and Mesh heterogeneous networks, to build the IoT heterogeneous interconnection framework based on reconfigurable wireless Mesh networks, which breaks through the limits of wireless Mesh heterogeneous networks. Corresponding research about MAC, routing and transport protocols, together with theoretical analysis and algorithm design of choices between IoT networks and distributed resource optimization, are combined. The proposed framework, protocols and algorithms are verified through simulation, and testified via prototypes.
