Our lab team has won the Best Paper Award at the 2021 IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (IEEE PIMRC 2021). The paper co-authored by Aimin Tang, Yao Liu, and Xudong Wang was the only winner of the award out of the 260 accepted papers of the conference.

Titled “Exploiting Joint-Cache-Channel Coding for Decentralized Coded Caching With Heterogeneous Link Rates and Cache Sizes”, the awarded paper based on a research  project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientist Program features a joint-cache-channel coding scheme that can address the problem of heterogeneous cache sizes and link rates when applying coded-caching in wireless networks. A closed-form information-theoretic result is derived to reveal the lower bound of transmission time when exploiting joint-cache-channel coding for decentralized coded caching under the scenario of heterogeneous cache sizes and link rates.

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization. The annual IEEE PIMRC co-organized with 6G Flagship this year is one of the two major conferences of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) in the field of wireless communications and networking attracting the technical community from all regions and continents.
